Job Introduction

Social Impact Manager

JOB PURPOSE:

BPP Social Impact Team designs and delivers projects that enable students and learners to develop new skills and gain new experiences, while giving back to the local community. Each year, the Social Impact Team enables hundreds of BPP students and learners to benefit from Social Impact and volunteering opportunities that support both personal and professional development, while making a difference to people in need across the country.

The Social Impact Team’s key aims are:

1. To deliver legal and other professional services that directly support individuals who cannot access paid for advice services.

2. To educate and inform the wider public about law, business, tech and health issues.

3. To provide practical opportunities and experiences that will ensure BPP students and learners possess the skills that are in demand.

4. To deliver programmes and facilitate pathways for individuals from diverse and/or lower socio-economic backgrounds to access professional careers.

Why work for BPP?

It is a great time to join BPP as we have enjoyed a sustained period of growth, offering a wealth of opportunities to our staff, students and clients. There are many more great reasons to join BPP such as:

  • Brilliantly, you can study any of BPP’s courses for free – be it a professional qualification or full degree.

  • With hybrid working available, you’ll be able to split your time between one of our centres and wherever you choose to call home.

  • We also provide a generous annual leave entitlement of 30 days, and there’s a rewards package that includes retail discounts, Group Personal Pension Plan, dedicated private healthcare and dental plans that offer additional assurance to look after you and your family.

What you’ll be doing

Join BPP’s Social Impact Team and play a key role in driving meaningful change through legal education and community engagement. This role involves supervising cases at the BPP Welfare Rights Clinic, coordinating student volunteers and ensuring outreach projects run effectively across all locations. You will manage key national initiatives such as Tribunal Friends and Local/National externships while expanding partnerships with external charities and community groups. By designing and implementing scalable Social Impact initiatives, you will encourage social mobility and provide students with invaluable opportunities to develop their skills while making a real difference.

As part of this role, you will work closely with international students to engage them in volunteering opportunities, recruit and train student volunteers and promote Social Impact initiatives at BPP events and programme inductions. You will also liaise with referral agencies to maximise the clinic’s reach, ensuring students gain hands-on experience while enhancing employability. Additionally, you will support the development of BPP’s Social Impact provision, attend conferences to exchange best practices and contribute to the overall growth of the team. If you’re passionate about social justice, education and making a tangible impact in the community, this is the perfect opportunity for you.

What experience you’ll need

  • Minimum two years' experience advising on welfare rights issues
  • Significant experience in a legal or casework-based environment
  • Experience designing and delivering training/presentations to large and small groups
  • Strong ability to explain legal principles clearly, both orally and in writing
  • Proven experience in managing projects or teams
  • Strong teamwork and collaboration skills
  • Resilient, proactive, and able to work under pressure to meet deadlines
  • Ability to build relationships with senior leaders and external stakeholders
  • Excellent communication and networking skills to establish credibility with learners, staff, and clients
  • Strong organisation, problem-solving, and time management skills
  • Ability to engage a diverse range of stakeholders effectively
